Polished concrete for the Surf Coast.

For a home with an alfresco area or an open threshold, begin by identifying which surfaces are enclosed, exposed to weather or likely to become wet. An interior polished floor and an exterior concrete finish need separate consideration even where the colour and aggregate are intended to relate.

Mechanical polished concrete is our primary interior offering. Pavilion is the exterior option. The photographs on this page show our Highton work in Geelong as a finish reference; they are not labelled as a Surf Coast case study.

Discuss shoes, tracked-in sand, water, cleaning and exposure with your designer and Irwin. A reflective appearance does not establish a slip rating or make a floor suitable for every wet area. Surface selection and any required testing should follow the actual use.

For a new slab, involve the polishing specialist before the pour so appearance, joints, transitions and protection can be coordinated with the builder. For an existing floor, begin with its condition and any known coverings or repairs.

Access and timing matter too. Send the site location and programme with your plans, particularly where other trades or a staged handover need to be accommodated. Use our pre-pour planning guide.
